The darker side of positive thinking

I wasn’t intending on posting anything today but the following clip just blew me away and I strongly feel that the message it contains needs to be spread…

I found it in a comment thread on the post “Tony Robbins and the Cult of Aggressive Positivity” from Beyond Growth…which in my view needs to be read too..

Watch it, enjoy it and please share it…

If you like this clip, you may enjoy Barbara Ehrenreich’s book Bright Sided. She makes a lot of strong arguments against positive thinking as ideology, which I think helps clarify the good things about positive thinking when not so rigid and aggressively pursued.

I wonder if anyone ever heard about Moderation — We have a saying back home that translates to “A little Poison, Good Medicine; Too Much Medicine, Good Poison”.

Why is it so difficult for us to accept the dualities of Life? Nothing exists without its opposite. That is why we have the power of discernment/discreetion.

    Loved the video.

“Why is it so difficult for us to accept the dualities of Life?”

I love this question and I guess the answer may be to do with the mandatory optimism described in the video..
